Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • baking sheet or frying pan
  • three small bowls
  • paper towels
  • tongs or slotted spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Panko)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • cooking spray or oil for frying

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat frying oil in a pan.
  • In a bowl, combine shredded mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Form the cheese mixture into small balls, making about 12 to 15 bites.
  • Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten egg, and one with breadcrumbs. Roll each cheese ball in flour, dip into egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Fry the coated bites in hot oil for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown, or bake them on a greased baking sheet for 12 to 15 minutes until crispy and golden.
  • If fried, place the bites on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Serve hot with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra crunch, use Panko breadcrumbs. Freeze the cheese balls for 10 minutes before coating to help them hold their shape while frying. Serve immediately for the best melted cheese texture.
