  • measuring cups and spoons
  • spoon or cookie scoop

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 + 2 tbsp apple cider or apple juice

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F and grease a nonstick baking sheet.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined. Add egg, vanilla extract, and applesauce; whisk until smooth.
  • Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and fold in diced apples gently.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for about 10 minutes until golden brown. Switch on the broiler to caramelize the tops for an additional 2-4 minutes.
  • For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar with apple cider until smooth and brush over warm fritter bites.

Notes

Use firm sweet apples like Honeycrisp or Gala for the best texture. Try adding chopped pecans, walnuts, or extra fall spices like nutmeg for a seasonal variation. For a richer dessert, drizzle with caramel before serving.
